Finca Villacreces is rightfully described as the hidden jewel of Ribera del Duero. With such prestigious neighbors as Vega Sicilia and Pingus, Villacreces is situated in the heart of the best vineyard sites in the region. Produced from Tempranillo with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit for this wine is coming from the younger vines as their first wine but vinified in such a way as to make for an easier drinking wine that doesn’t require the same level of aging as their top cuvée. Aromas of red berry fruit and hints of toffee from French oak ageing give way to a fruit-driven palate. Notes of concentrated cherry fruit and liquorice that lead to a juicy finish. Broad on the palate but not overbearing, this would be great with grilled sausage or roasted lamb.
